The plant

Ho Wood essential oil is extracted from Cinnamomum camphora CT linalool, a tree of the Lauraceae family.

Native to Asia (China, Taiwan, Japan), this tree can grow up to 20 metres tall. It is particularly known for the aromatic richness of its wood and leaves, which contain large amounts of linalool.

The part used to produce the essential oil is the wood (bark and twigs). It is extracted by steam distillation, a gentle method that preserves all of its aromatic molecules.

With a soft, floral, woody scent, sometimes reminiscent of rose and rosewood, this oil is very popular in natural cosmetics, perfumery and aromatherapy.

Anecdotes & History

Ho Wood is sometimes considered a sustainable alternative to rosewood, whose overexploitation has threatened its survival.

In China, it has long been used in traditional rituals for its purifying virtues.

Its delicate, floral fragrance makes it a favourite oil in natural perfumery and anti-ageing cosmetics.

Today, Ho Wood is appreciated all over the world for its gentleness, its respect for the environment and its perfect balance between well-being and skin care.

Physical and olfactory characteristics

Ho Wood essential oil is characterised by:

• Appearance: clear liquid
• Colour: colourless to very pale yellow
• Scent: soft, floral, slightly woody, reminiscent of rose

Its subtle fragrance makes it an oil of choice for relaxation and skin care.

Biochemical composition

The richness of Ho Wood essential oil lies in its unique biochemical composition.
Its main active constituents are:

• Linalool (up to 90%) → the key molecule, with regenerating and relaxing properties
• Terpene oxides and other aromatic traces

This high linalool content explains its soothing, balancing and skin-care effects.
